The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised Ghanaian musicians to let the import of their songs reflect societal needs and aspirations of the people. He said music is the food for the body and soul and must always rekindle the spirit while encouraging the body to strengthen itself to face the challenges of the world. Otumfuo Osei Tutu gave the advice on Friday, when Mr Charles Kwadwo Fosu, alias Dady Lumba, a renowned Ghanaian musician, paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The call, was to formally introduce himself to the King and thank him for his support and encouragement, which has helped in his music career. Dady Lumba was led to the palace by Dr Kwaku Oteng, Chief Executive Officer of Angel Group of Companies, who has billed the musician to stage a musical concert in Kumasi on December 24, 2011. Otumfuo Osei Tutu advised Dady Lumba to humble himself and work to promote Ghanaian music and culture to the outside world while helping the Ghanaian society to get rid of some of the challenges facing the people. He pledged his continuous support to the promotion of education and culture in the country and called on all to play their part to ensure that Ghanaian children were educated to reduce poverty in society. Dady Lumba thanked the Asantehene for the encouragement and promise to work hard to contribute his quota towards the development of not only Asanteman but Ghana as a whole.
